St. Joseph jumped out to an early lead but could not keep pace as St. Sebastian took home a 10-5 victory on Thursday at Brookside Park.

The Joey’s scored four runs in the first inning to get started. The offense was led by Dave Eckert, Dave Merkel, Tom Swales, and Chris Paterek, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

St. Sebastian roared back with 8 runs in the 2nd inning to take command.  A double by Matthew Taylor, a single by Kevin Morris a single by Jon Villegas, a single by Glen Gang, a double by John Greenblatt, and a double by Mike McKenna were the damaging blows.

Close Contest Between St Anthony & St Vincent Ends in A Tie

 

St Vincent got on the board in the first inning on a Rich Pitonzo single.

St Anthony tallied six runs in the second inning. St Anthony’s big bats were led by Mike MarkowyczErik HastrupLuis Fraguas, and Floyd Roberts, who all drove in runs.

St Anthony tallied 22 hits in the game. Bobby CamisaMarkowyczFraguasHastrupRobertsTodd Feinberg, and Carlos Da Costa each managed multiple hits for St AnthonyFraguasMarkowycz, and Camisa each collected four hits to lead St Anthony

 

St Vincent racked up 24 hits in the slugfest.. Liam NobileReinaldo SantiagoPitonzoHarold HoplerEric CruzDaryl PalmieriDaniel Roy, and Russell Voorhees all had multiple hits for St VincentNobile went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead St Vincent in hits.

St. Ignatius swept a Friday night Double Header at Brookside Park, outscoring the Wolves by 13-8 & 13-3 scores.

The Bob McGuinness led Ignatz team was powered by (over 2 games) Ara Movsesian (4 hits / 5 Runs / 2 RBI’s), Paul Bifani (5 hits / 4 Runs / 4 RBI’s), Brian Stitt (5 hits / 4 RBI’s), Pete Chemidlin (4 hits) and “The Captain” Bob with 5 hits. Ross Alpert and Rob Stratton also had solid games at the plate and in the field.

 

For the Wolfgang, leading hitters in the DH included Joe Oporto  (5 hits / 2 RBI’s), Vinny Fumero (4 hits) and Nash Warfield (3 hits). The Ignatius team has won four straight games.

A Tight Game Between St George And St Francis Ends in A Tie!

 

St. George knotted the game up at six in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Dan Schneyder’s sac fly scored on the equalizing run. Darkness stopped the game and the teams settled for a hard-fought tie.

 

St. George totaled 15 hits and were led by Nam-June Joe, RobZerafa, and Jim Killeen, who each collected multiple hits. Joe went 3-for-3 at the plate to pace the Georgie’s.

 

St. Francis racked up 12 hits in the game with Tony Perconte, Ben Lobrace, Rick Wustefeld and Gus Alvarez each stroking multiple hits for the Red shirted squad.
