St. George built an 8 run lead and held off a late rally by St. Sebastian to hold on to a 9-7 victory. The Georgie’s scored first on a sacrifice fly by Rob Zerafa, a single by Rob Del Cid, and a fielder’s choice by Jim Sosinski. They padded the lead in the 4^th inning with RBI’s coming from Mike Surbrug, John DeLuca and Dan Schneider.

For the winners, Sal Gano Jr., Ryan Peters, and Francis “Don’t Call Me..” Vecchione each had 3 hits.

The Sea Bass squad was led by Jon Villegas, Matt Taylor, Ricky Cintron and Mike McKenna with multiple hits.

St. Anthony      7

In a hit-fest at Farley Park, St. Vincent turned away St. Anthony by a score of 12-7.

Captain Keith’s squad was paced by Harold “High Pitch” Hopler, Daryl Palmieri and Rei Santiago who each had three hits for the game. Santiago homered and drove in 4 runs.

For the losing Anthony squad, Andrew Smyth, Eric Hastrup, Mike D’Amato and Dennis Reilly each stroked three hits.Both Jack Kennedy and Smyth blasted home runs.

 

St. Ignatius    23

St. Wolfgang      5

At Jersey Land Park, St. Ignatius rolled to an easy 23-5 victory over St. Wolfgang. The Ignatz offensive explosion yielded 30 hits for the night. Pounding the ball for the winners included Ara Movsesian (4 hits), Brian Stitt (4 RBI’s), and Pete Chemidlin (5 RBI’s). Multiple hits were also stroked by SS Rob Stratton, Paul Bifani, Josh Baik, Mike Cunningham, Bill “Pirate” Scheiner, Pitcher Bob McGuiness and Sal Gano Sr.

For the Wolfpack, Eddie Fernandez, Ed DeFrancesco, and Joe Ursino all had two hits.

It deserves to be mentioned that the squad from St. Wolfgang has finally won a game in 2022!

Rich’s Wolfmen have entered the W column, and it is rumored that they will now make the playoffs. A celebration that lasted into the wee hours left the Wolfies searching for Pedialyte the following morning…
